MetroLugano: the rod to the floor Scairolo

The following proposal concerns the connection of the fund's Grange (or, better, the Pian Scairolo) complete the network MetroLugano [ML] . The version shown here suggests a link with low costs, che sfrutti il più possibile il sedime ferroviario esistente.

Lasciata station, the line re-enter the tunnel to overcome the main road (alternatively, you may have created a road underpass) to immediately re-emerge in Furnas Road, cross the street to Pree, and all along the river Scairolo on the side west.

The advantages of this route are:
  • direct access to the railway station / TILO and all the urban ring, which connects all the facilities and the downtown;
  • costs limited data from a single gallery relatively short ( ca. 1300 m.) and the absence of underground stations;
  • the lake of Lugano is free, allowing in the future, if necessary, its completely closed to traffic;
  • il traffico privato in entrata-uscita autostrada Lugano Sud, non viene perturbato da cantieri o limitazioni di qualunque tipo;
  • l'ingrandimento del P+R delle Fornaci [P+R Sud], che deve essere realizzato contemporaneamente alle opere ferroviarie;

The rest of the route up to Casoro should be made double track, but if it is considered appropriate to act otherwise, it is obviously necessary that the tunnel-furnace Sorengo and access to the river Scairolo are met in every case of double track. The average slope of the tunnel is 3.85% (Sorengo Pond: approx. 350 m; Pambio Kilns, lowest point: ca. 300 m), so technically you do not raise concern.
> The minimum cost is the trump card of this project! Preserve the pedestrian promenade to make it one day it will be possible. If you go to Grange for shopping or work, not generally live in the inner city, nor necessarily makes you 'head: of the 17 districts today, 7 (ie not Pazzallo, but that it benefits) have, in the immediate vicinity, a station ML *. Only for the City of Lugano 36300 ab .** may be from one or more stations, ML, and this population of 30900 inhabitants. are closer to a station that is not their Lugano Centre! Of the 126,000 inhabitants. residing in the urban agglomeration, only 5400 inhabitants. living in the city center. This is to emphasize that a direct connection Grange-Center does not seem right as a priority! Again, the concept MetroLugano meet the real needs!

* Center (5400 pop.) Lugano Centre, Campus Martius and Station SBB ; Cassarate (5700 pop. With Castagnola): Campo Marzio ; Viganello (7000 pop.) Luganetto ; Molino Nuovo (8900 pop.) Fola, Cornwall and Ricordone ; Pregassona (8700 pop.) Fola and Cornwall ; Besso (5000 pop.) and Lugano FFS Tassino; Barbengo (1900 pop.) different stations.
** The figures are the number of inhabitants (in total) who reside in designated areas. It is assumed that even the more distant residents vested station closest to them anyway.
